Description

Sterile filtered water with an addition of 0.9 % benzyl alcohol, filled into a 10 ml vial. It is used to reconstitute lyophilised substances in the laboratory.

Why bacteriostatic

Benzyl alcohol acts bacteriostatically: it inhibits microbial growth without killing organisms. This is why a solution prepared with it can be drawn from repeatedly over a longer period, unlike water for injection without a preservative.
